Open Water Scuba Certification – Learn to Dive in the Florida Keys

Ready to become a certified scuba diver? The Open Water Scuba Certification course with Key Dives is your first step to exploring the underwater world and earning your internationally recognized scuba diving certification.

If you’re ready to take the plunge, the Open Water Certification with Key Dives is one of the best ways to learn to scuba dive in the Florida Keys. With small class sizes and experienced instructors, we focus on helping you become a confident and comfortable diver.

The course is completed in three phases.

Phase 1: Knowledge Development

Academic studies are completed online at your own pace before arriving. When you arrive at Key Dives, your instructor will review the material with you to ensure you’re ready for the next steps.

Phase 2: Pool Training (Day 1)

You will spend a full day in the pool learning scuba skills and becoming comfortable with your equipment. We take the time to train you properly so you feel confident before heading to the ocean.

Phase 3: Ocean Dives (Day 2&3)

You will complete four open water dives on the beautiful coral reefs of the Florida Keys where you will apply the skills learned in the pool while exploring vibrant reef habitats and marine life.

Training is conducted with a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 4 students.

REQUIREMENTS

Open Water eLearning must be completed prior to the start of the course

Minimum age: 10 years old

Participants must be able to swim 200 meters and float for 10 minutes

Health clearance: Complete a medical questionnaire before diving

If you are the only student scheduled for the course, we will always try to add additional students when possible. If no other students are scheduled, a $50 solo student fee will apply.

Prepare for an unforgettable 9-hour offshore deepwater fishing expedition that spans from the shoreline to depths of up to 850 feet. Our adventure offers a range of specialized gear, including electric reels tailored for deep dropping to target various Grouper species and Tile Fish.
